Recent news coverage of high-profile deaths of unarmed African-Americans have shown a spotlight on a troubling trend of institutional discrimination and lack of accountability in  law enforcement of towns and cities across the U.S..

Cases such as Sandra Bland’s and Michael Brown‘s, have enraged and shocked many in the public sphere. From football players to comedians and politicians many have raised their voices (and their hands) in solidarity with the Black Community.

Despite all the recent attention and outrage this problem is in no way a new one.

America has had a long troubled and oft discriminatory history when it comes to the treatment of our Black citizens. Policing and law-enforcement are necessary and vital to the security and well being of our nation. For many African-Americans, however, the relationship between officers and civilians is a sour one.

The mission  of this site is to provide context and history in order to help illuminate this troubling trend and show how these recent and tragic examples are not just the products of today.
